Off-Topic, really.
May. 13th, 2008 07:42 amI generally have a policy of sticking to the topic with this blog (i.e., costume craft artisanship and related topics of interest); this is really a stretch, so i'll just call it off-topic.
What topical news i have to share is this: I am currently working at the Public Theater in NYC, doing some craftwork for the royal court in their upcoming production of Hamlet for their "Shakespeare in the Park" program. I don't have permission to share any "behind the scenes" stuff in terms of the projects i'm working on for them, so i don't know how much content there'll be on here until the show opens--i do have another museum exhibit to discuss and various other media reviews i might get to, but we'll see.
The Off-Topic portion of the post is really this: i want to share some of my photos of the drive up and wandering around DC and NYC so far!

this excellent guy was outside the Chinese consulate in DC

cool DC architecture

Daguerre memorial at the National Portrait Gallery

cowboy statue at the NPG

lovely church spire across from the NPG

Date: 2008-05-14 11:23 am (UTC)I decided not to go back to the Utah Shakespeare Festival for a variety of reasons (things like, the cost of gas to drive round-trip made it almost financially impractical, and the fact that my roommate out there didn't come back this season because she got a year-round Technical Director position). Rather than take a risk on a position at another summer theatre, where the work can vary from poor-quality crap made in indentured servitude to respectable and recompensed, I thought this would be a cool change of pace.
I'm sticking around until i can't find anything else that fits my window of availability, so we'll see how that goes. I might go home mid-June, or I might stay through the end of July.
