My Decorative Arts class turned in their first round of projects today, gloves! They do two pairs, one simple pair to get a feel for the strange process glovemaking requires, then a more complex pair in which they choose a more complex style, pattern, or challenging fabric (or leather).

Here are a few pix of some of their work:

Left: winter-themed simple gloves by senior undergraduate Michelle Bellamy.
Michelle did these in a nubby woven fabric with such sweet blue outseaming!
Right: houndstooth jersey simple gloves by PRC Wardrobe Supervisor Whitney Vaughan

First-year grad Leah Pelz has a funny idea of "simple."
She made these gloves alternating colors for each finger.

Here's what her pattern looked like! Cool!

Gauntleted work gloves in thick leather, also by Leah Pelz
Leah worked off a pattern originally developed by alum Jacki Armit,
pictured in this previous post.

I love these two-tone wool gloves by Whitney Vaughan!
Whitney worked from a research image of a great pair of 1960s leather gloves,
which inspired the seaming and placket placement.
We jokingly called them "the long bird gloves."
