labricoleuse: (ass head mask)
[personal profile] labricoleuse
My masks and armor class presented their first round of armor projects today and i have some photos to share.

I'd hoped to finish writing up my USITT notes, but then i got sucked into doing some guest lectures at work that took up a LOT more time to prep than i'd expected. Hopefully i'll get around to posting about that soon, but in the meantime, please enjoy these three armor project images!

Continuing education student Candy McClernan created this horned helmet
from thermoplastic and vinyl spackle, lined in felt and headliner foam.
She apparently swiped these antlers from her husband's trophy wall.

The raised details on the visor are created by sandwiching wire shapes
between two layers of Wonderflex thermoplastic and scoring around them
while it is still malleable, resulting in a relief effect.

Pretty amazingly smooth finish on the back of this piece!
