Crazy Costumes and Congratulations!

This post is ostensibly about my graduating 3rd year students' creative draping projects, which is a project that's part of the body of work that comprises their masters thesis. It's also an excuse for me to squee about how proud i am. :)

The creative draping projects are overseen by our Costume Director, Judy Adamson, and are determined by the students proposals--essentially, they need to be something striking, unusual, challenging, with some element of reshaping of the human body. Some past examples have been things like a voluptuous showgirl costume for a male performer and one of those impossible-looking Erte designs. They create every element of the design from start to finish, including craftwork like headgear, footwear, any dyeing required, etc.

With their permission, i wanted to share some pictures of the creative draping project submissions of our two 2008 graduates, M. Spencer Henderson and Emily Vandervort Mason. And of course, I also want to publicly crow my heartfelt congratulations on their graduation as Masters of Fine Arts!
